Creole Vibration From The Heart Of The Caribbean

 


Elkin Robinson is a singer / songwriter from Old Providence, a small island in the caribbean sea that belongs to Colombia. Afro-Caribbean rhythms like, calypso, mento, zouk, gospel and folk tradition are his source of inspiration. He sings his lyrics in Creole English. Elkin Robinson brought his ’Creole Vibration’ to the most important festivals and venues in Colombia, and has been selected to play showcases at the most relevant music expos like Circulart in Medellin and Bogota Music Market. In 2014 he released his first solo album ’Come’Round’, it was produced and mixed by Richard Blair (Sidestepper) and Diego Gomez (Llorona Records). ’Come’Round’ gives a fresh spin to the caribbean roots of Old Providence’ musical heritage . Elkin and his band are only using acoustic instruments like guitar, the horse jawbone, upside down washtub and handheld percussion like la clave and maracas. In 2016 Elkin toured with his five piece band to Festivals in Germany, Canada, Jamaica, Honduras and Guetemala. His forthcomming CD was produced by Richard Blair and will be released in 2017.
